I've taken a rafting trip down the Colorado (not in the Grand Canyon, but above Lake Powell) and I can assure you this is a very muddy river. I'm now very near the end of the trail looking west. The bridge is the Bright Angel Bridge. Though you can see some permanent structures, this is not Phantom Ranch. That lies to the right following the little creek that you see emptying into the Colorado. If you were going up the Bright Angel Trail, you would follow the river and cross that bridge.
